“Walkies” Linocut
Color Reduction Process

“Walkies” is a color reduction linocut print with six layers. It is based on a photo I took in Lithuania. I hand-carved one piece of linoleum six times, inking the lino for each color, one print at a time. Each print has been hand-pressed six times, to transfer the various ink layers to the paper.

Layers:
1) Yellow gradient
2) Brown and Flesh Tones
3) Blue
4) Light Magenta
5) Tan and Light Tan gradient
6) Black

I used Caligo Safe Wash oil-based relief printing ink, mixing process colors to make the colors I desired. Paper is Stonehenge Cotton Fiber 90 lb. printmaking paper. Brown linoleum. Each print is an original.
